Drivers vehicle defecting procedure or DDR as it is often known, (Driver Defect rectification) is one of the most common problem areas we see, both at Public Inquiry level and when we are asked by a company to Audit their Operators Licence.
It is essential a regular checkable system is in place, one that can be traced back and be seen to be working.
Drivers must ensure they check the items listed on the DDR paperwork, they must sign the sheet or booklet off as NIl Defect if non are found.
If a defect is observed, it must be noted by the driver on the form and then signed off as rectified by the person who has fixed the problem, whether this be the driver him/herself or a mechanic.
A lack of a thorough DDR system is taken very seriously, as is one which is inadequate.
Non compliance in this area could have a significant impact on your O Licence.
if you have any worries or doubts about your DDR procedure why not call us to discuss measures to put it right!
